The society was founded in 2008 in memory of John Myers BEM.  John was a keen golfer in his later years of life and battled his way down to a career low of 7.  He played his golf at many clubs but his home was at Calverley Golf Club.

The aim of the society is to organise a few golf outings each year to celebrate the game of golf and John's love of the game.

The idea was born after a game of golf on John's birthday on March 13th 2008, the first after his passing, at Flamborough Head GC with a fourball of myself (Johns youngest son), Alan (his elder brother) and Tony and Darren (Johns nephews).  The game was played in typical friendly fashion and an honourable half rounded off a great day.

After the success of the small get to together we decided that this would become an annual event and the John Myers BEM Golfing Society was born.

Please see the events page for details there of.
